Peace in our Time

This poem was written by our Mother during the Vietnam war after some of our cousins in the United States draft numbers came up. Fortunately the war ended before they were selected for service.

On bended knee-we ask of thee
Please Lord in our time
Let each man see-that Liberty
Must be the truth sublime
Let all men know where'er they go
They work in Thine own Grace
All this we ask and this our task
For color, creed, and  race

Peace on earth we pray Lord
Please Lord in our time
Hear our voices thunder
Hear the church bells chime
Peace, Peace, Peace, Peace
Peace Lord in our time

We raise our eyes-up to the skies
We seek a sign from thee
We kneel in shame and call Thy name
Lord God hear our plea
Let war be done-let peace be won
Now Lord in our day
Touch each raised hand
In every land
And lead us as we pray

Peace on earth we pray Lord
Peace Lord in our time
Hear our voices thunder
Hear the church bells chime
Peace, Peace, Peace, Peace
Peace Lord in our time

(or Let war be done-let peace be won
Now Lord in our day
All this we ask and this our task
Hear us as we pray
