Overwhelming Thoughts While Watching The Funeral Procession on TV for Sir Winston Churchill
Doest though sleep great warrior
Or can you hear
The rolling wheel of gun carriage
The tramp of sailors feet
The muffled drum
The creak of carriage wheel,
Carrying your beloved Clementine
Close behind you
Can you hear the heartbeat of the world today?
Can you see oh noble knight
The towering monuments of steel
Built in your memory:
A ravaged city reborn
The millions who line the streets
Big Ben silenced at last
The Queen in deep homage
The diplomats
The old man with lined face
Down which the tears stream
Unchecked-unheeded
Can you see this beloved leader?
Do you know old soldier mine
The homage of Kings paid to you today
That never before-perhaps never again
Shall we know your ilk
And so we give you homage
With our tears
What is this I see oh silent friend
Clouds above your crypt
Forming a V for Victory sign
Go with God-we shall remember you beloved
