My thanks to my niece Hayley Weedon who won a prize reciting her Grandmothers poem at a recital competition. My sister Lynne Weedon (nee Freeman) wrote the following "The adjudicator Colin Mailer was so impressed by it that he asked if he could recommend it to the Provincial Syallabus of Manitoba. I agreed happily! Colin Mailer was from Brandon and died a couple of years ago. In April 2010 I discovered our mom's poem in the Provincial Syllabus." It is included in the syllabus for the Associated Manitoba Arts Festivals. From Hayley "How could I forget!!! I practiced that poem for weeks, and weeks. It's forever burned in my memory. I typed it out last night, just to make sure I still had it in the vault. " and here it is.
